Towards a Welsh Planning Act: call for evidence

With the advent of the Welsh Government’s primary policy making power, comes a review of current legislation. The Independent Advisory Group set-up to review the planning system has now called for views and opinions from the public on making planning easier to understand and use. This is a great opportunity to have a say on the future of the planning system in Wales.

Volunteers wanted

We are currently looking to recruit new volunteers, including planners interested in casework and community volunteers interested in community development activities.

We are also on the lookout for new trustee directors to join the Management Board.

The recruitment process is relatively fast and painless and we are running our next volunteer induction event on 14th September which would be an ideal date to recruit new volunteers by.

Can you help ?

Recruitment information is available here.

Ar hyn o bryd rydym yn gobeithio recriwtio gwirfoddolwyr newydd, yn cynnwys cynllunwyr sydd â diddordeb mewn gwaith achos, a gwirfoddolwyr cymuned sydd â diddordeb mewn gweithgareddau datblygu’r gymuned. Rydym hefyd yn cadw llygaid ar agor am gyfarwyddwyr ymddiriedolaeth i ymuno â’r Bwrdd Rheoli.

Mae’r broses recriwtio yn weddol gyflym ac yn ddi-ffwdan ac rydym yn cynnal ein digwyddiad cyflwyno i wirfoddolwyr ar Fedi 14eg. Byddai’n ddelfrydol recriwtio gwirfoddolwyr newydd erbyn y dyddiad yna. Allwch chi helpu ?

Updated guidance publications

Planning Aid Wales has now published up-to-date versions of the following guidance publications:

‘What to do when faced with a planning application in Wales’ provides information on how to find out about planning applications, and how to make effective and relevant consultation responses to the local planning authority. The booklet is designed for people who want to support or object to a planning application in their area.

‘A guide to planning enforcement in Wales’ gives an overview of enforcement practices and procedures in Wales. It also advises on how to prepare for an enforcement appeal. The booklet is designed for people who want to appeal against enforcement action being taken by the local planning authority, and people who are concerned about a development that may not have the necessary planning permissions in place.

‘Seeing the light: Planning and rights to light in Wales’ provides an overview of the issues to do with light and overshadowing in the planning process in Wales. The booklet is designed for those people who are concerned that a new development proposal will have an unacceptable ‘overshadowing’ effect on their property, and for developers who want to make sure that their building will not lead to an unacceptable loss of light to neighbouring properties.
