BUTTERFLY CONSERVATION PROJECT – June 2021

Because of our experience with volunteers and communities, Planning Aid Wales were commissioned by Butterfly Conservation in Wales (BC) to review how they engage with stakeholders to identify how to broaden their reach and become more inclusive as an organisation.  A core part of this review was to identify the gaps in their capacity, knowledge, skills, and engagement so that BC can address them and rethink their approach where necessary.  Identifying and providing opportunities for people to engage with butterflies and moths increases the positive impact for all species by raising awareness of their plight, educating about their requirements, and providing opportunities for people to improve their health and wellbeing, for example by undertaking butterfly surveys and walks.
