Engaging and Empowering Local Communities

** Please note, this event will be presented on Teams.

How can communities shape their own future?

Communities across Wales are increasingly taking the lead in shaping the places where they live, work and spend their time. From community-led regeneration projects to local planning initiatives, people are finding new ways to influence decisions and create positive change.

Join us for this knowledge sharing lunchtime seminar to explore how communities can play a stronger role in delivering thriving, sustainable and resilient places.

The 2025 Future Generations Report emphasises the importance of co-operative and community-led approaches. In July 2025, Oxfam Cymru and the Institute of Welsh Affairs published A Flourishing Wellbeing Economy for Wales, which presents a compelling case for Wales to reorient its economy around wellbeing, care and sustainability. The report argues that economic policy should be focused on improving people’s wellbeing and highlights the vital role communities can play in shaping local priorities and delivering positive change.

Our speakers will share practical examples, lessons learned and opportunities for communities to become active partners in local regeneration.
